Access to the gym is free, but children under 16 are not allowed to use the Fitness Suite.

Badminton Court - Our enormous barn has been converted into a full-size badminton court and sports hall. It also serves very well as an indoor activity area for table tennis or basketball if the weather is a bit off.

Bikes - We keep a selection of old bikes to suit most ages and sizes, no hire charges, just help yourself. We also have a small selection of newer bikes for which we require a small hire charge (per day or per week). Helmets are not provided.

Fishing - We have a small private lake for the exclusive use of guests, where you can fish from the bank or from a small rowing boat. The lake is well stocked with carp and some tench; the biggest carp are about 18-20lbs, with many good-size fish between 8 & 15 lbs. Tackle is not provided. There is also other fishing in the local area. See Fishing Rules

Outdoor Sports/Games - soccer pitch, volleyball court and basket ball net.

Table-tennis - we have an outdoor table plus bats and balls.

Children's play equipment - Along with a 14ft trampoline, we have an adventure play tower with slide, swings, monkey bars, fireman's pole, picnic bench and climbing wall (see activities photo page).

Each cottage is provided with a set of 'Boules', badminton racquets and shuttlecocks.

...In the local area:

The Loire valley is renowned for its historic Chateaux, one of the most famous being Chenonceau which is a mere 12 kms. away. The medieval Chateau de Montpoupon is even closer, about a 15 minute walk away, with its museum of hunting and ancient kitchens. Loches, Amboise (wonderful Sunday market) and Blois are all within an easy car drive. Probably the best zoo (Zoo Parc de Beauval) in the Loire, if not France, at St Aignan, is an easy 15 minute drive away.

There are some excellent golf courses within an hour's drive. Other activities available in the local area include horse riding, tennis, jet ski-ing, paintballing, canoeing on the rivers Cher and Loire and Segway tours (including wine tasting) in Amboise and Loches.

The area abounds with vineyards and wine producers many of which offer tastings and sell direct to the public. The local area produces some excellent cabernet and gamay red wines, whilst the town of Montrichard is well known for its production of red and sparkling white wines. The world reknowned "Appelation Controlée" of Vouvray is within a 40 minute drive. Speak to us about going to the local wine co-op and buying wine in bulk, it's great fun and an interesting visit.

Montrichard offers "beach" facilities on the River Cher with a children's playground, public tennis courts and boating. Montrichard and most other local towns have indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and at least one, and often two market days.

The countryside is gently rolling, making it very interesting for touring, especially, in our opinion, by bicycle, where the quiet roads and villages can be explored, and as you'd expect, you will find a wide variety of cafés and restaurants.
